making money with poker
Making enough to live on playing poker isn’t a easy task. For example say your bankroll is $4,000.
You plan to play 10/20 professional poker. If your able to make $50k year at this level you are a very good player. If you have bills at $48k for example you will only make 2k a year in savings. It will take you a few years to build up a bankroll to play in the higher games. So you can take a risk at a higher level but if you run unlucky you are forced to get a job or lower your limits and try and make it that way.
If your able to manage 30k in expenses you could save 8k a year for a bankroll. This would allow you to really play 20/40 games. As you climb the poker ladder similar to the corporate latter your competition gets harder. Its going to be much harder for you to increase your yearly income.
As you get to the highest levels its a few professional players and a few wealthy players.
Even if you win the blinds about 5 days in a day at the 200/400 level you are making a nice living. That is 1,000 a day with just 5 blinds.
